Before you buy
Is this AI generated video?
No. The video itself is drawn, not generated. Every frame of the presenter, the two panels, the captions and the motion is produced by drawing code we wrote, so the same project renders the same video every time, down to the pixel. There is no model inventing frames, which is why you never get melted hands, drifting text or a face that changes between takes. Two parts can use AI if you want them to, and both are your choice: the app can draw up a first draft of the script for you, which you are free to rewrite or skip entirely by writing your own, and the voice is a text to speech voice, either the one built into Windows or a premium one you connect. So: original animation, your words, a synthetic voice reading them.
Will the platforms treat it as reused or inauthentic content?
Nothing here is stock footage, a slideshow of clips somebody else made, or a re-upload. It is animation rendered on your computer from your script, and every video carries your channel name. What the platforms object to is content with nothing of you in it, endlessly duplicated. The part that decides whether a video is worth watching is still the part you supply: which two things to compare, and what you say about them. If you use a synthetic voice, some platforms ask you to say so when you upload, which is one checkbox and does not affect monetisation on its own.
Is this only for tech videos?
Not at all. Esplainly does not know or care what your two things are. People use it for feelings, money, health, faith, parenting, football, school subjects and business. If you can say “what is the difference between”, it will make the video.
Do I need to know how to edit?
No. That is the entire point. There is no timeline, no keyframes and no layers. You type two things, check the script, fill the two tiles, pick a voice and press render.

Do I have to pay for anything else?
No. The Windows voice included with the app is free and needs no account. If you later want premium voices you can connect Google or ElevenLabs with your own key and pay them directly, but plenty of people never bother.
Is it really unlimited?
Yes. Your computer makes the video, so there is nothing for us to count. Make one a day or fifty a day, the price is the same.
Will it work on my computer?
If it runs Windows 10 or 11, yes. You do not need a graphics card. Our test machine is an ordinary 8 core laptop with no graphics card, and a 30 second video takes about 28 seconds.
Can I use it on more than one computer?
Your licence runs on one computer at a time. If you move to a new laptop, release the old one from your account and activate the new one with the same key. Lost your key? Ask for it again on the recovery page.
What does lifetime mean, exactly?
You pay once and the licence never expires, with every Esplainly 1 update included free. If there is ever an Esplainly 2 it would be a paid upgrade, at a discount for people who already own this. We would rather say that now than surprise you later.
Where do the pictures come from?
Each side can be a word set large, an emoji, an icon or a photograph, so you can finish a video without hunting for a single image. For photographs you can upload, drag and drop, or paste from your clipboard. Esplainly does not search the web for you, so you stay in control of what goes into your video and you are responsible for having the right to use it.
Does it need the internet?
Rendering happens entirely on your computer, so the heavy work never touches the internet. Esplainly does check in from time to time to confirm your licence is only running on one machine, and script writing and premium voices need a connection when you use them.
Is there a Mac or phone version?
Not yet. Esplainly is a Windows 10 and 11 application. It is not a phone app, because rendering video properly needs a real computer.
What if I cannot get it working on my PC?
Then you should not be paying for it. Tell us within 7 days and we will try to get it running, because that is usually a five minute fix. If we cannot, we refund you in full. That covers it not installing, not starting, and not rendering on your machine. It is a promise about it working rather than a 7 day trial, so once it is installed and running the licence is yours. Consumers in the EU and the UK also keep the 14 day cancellation right their own law gives them.
